Founder of Continuum Care Management in 1995, Carol has been a member
of National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers and a
certified care manager (CMC) since 1995. She has over twenty years of
diverse experience working with the elderly and their families. She has
been active in dementia care, serving as a member of the advisory
committee for Early Stage Alzheimer's Symposiums coordinated by the
Alzheimer's Association of Los Angeles. She is a member of California
Coalition for Compassionate Care, and The American Society of Aging. She teaches classes in dementia care and has led caregiver support
groups in the Bakersfield area.President and CEO
Brenda Laurin
Care Manager
Brenda has been a patient advocate in the areas of Midcare, SSI, Long Term Medi-Cal (Medicaid), In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS), and Elder Abuse. She brings to each assignment a unique skill set that includes elder care and care for those with special needs, and also legal and financial advocacy. Brenda assists our clients in paying bills, reconciling insurance claims, collecting benefits, looking out for abuses and scams. Also she has extensive expertise in the area of public benefits having worked as a Deputy Conservator for Kern County Public Guardian's Office, and as a paralegal in the Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance (GBLA) office.
Cheryl Hosman
Care Manager
Cheryl is a specialist in dementia care. She coordinated the formation of and served as director for a skilled care unit for persons afflicted with dementia. She served as director of the Alzheimer's Day Care Program of Kern County. An attentive advocate, Cheryl has a thorough knowledge of Title XXII, the governing law of Adult Day Care, skilled, and assisted living facilities. Cheryl's know how is not restricted to licensed care programs, she is attentive to older persons still living in their own home.
Becky Helvie, RN, CADCA
Nurse Care Manager
Becky has spent the majority of her career working in an Outpatient Clinic Neurology setting where the emphasis was on diagnosis and medical treatment of neurological diseases in the elderly, particularly Alzheimer's and other dementia. She is also a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor and a member of the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselors. She continues to volunteer in this field and has special cognizance of the incidence and problem of alcohol abuse in the elderly. Prior to her work in neurology, she spent a number of years in the home health field and in nursing education.
